OFFLINE | As far as overall media quality and costs go, do you feel it's worth it to upgrade to BlueRay hardware? I've had the same DVD player for the past 10 years and it's a model I really like. But it seems that BlueRay will eventually become the standard, though I hope they reduce the retail prices of Movies.
What do you think? |

OFFLINE | I love my TV. I think it's a Ilo 33" Wide Screen HiDef. It's perfect in my bedroom with the 5.1 Sony Surround I have. I'd much rather watch DVDs than go to the movies even. I know the prices of the players have come down, and that's welcoming actually. But damn the prices of retail BlueRay movies is ridiculous. But also, the video store I rent from only does DVDs, so it's not really likely I'd have BlueRay discs of my own.
But, BlueRay players do play all the original DVD formats,,,, right? So even if I didn't have BlueRay discs, that part wouldn't matter? One thing I'm hoping for is that BlueRay players have better error correction or recovery programming because my old DVD player throws up big time with the slightest imperfection on the disc |

OFFLINE | We just bought a cheap bluray player because the dvd player was getting old and we wanted to be able to stream Netflix. The dvd's look even better on our new player. We've watched one bluray disc and the picture was awesome. However, apparently I need to get a wireless ethernet bridge to stream the Netflix. |

Try the Public Library, Most libraries have extensive DVD's, Bluray's, Audio Books and even Video Games and they are FREE... well we pay taxes for them I guess... but you pay taxes even if you don't use the library.
Not sure why people go to rental stores or the red boxes... If there is a movie you want to watch you can place it on hold and the library will call you when it comes in and then you just go up to the desk and pick it up... no searching for it

I just know that ours has built-in Netflix but not built-in wifi...which would've cost more but made things more convenient. I didn't do enough research...just bought the cheapest thing I could find. |

I didn't even think of the Public Library. I haven't been there in years so I will check this out. Thanks! |

Curious, does this have like an on-screen keyboard or something? |

OFFLINE | I dig that remote! Off topic a bit, I like the 'bulkiness' of it. I'm not really into the super small or super thin or super light cell phones; I still like these things with some meat on'em. |

OFFLINE | to continue on the off topic... well it is sorta on topic
Internet Ready is not truly the Internet (not on my TV)
You are online but limited to the available App's
Yes, they have apps for most popular sited... but not YouTube (yet)
So don't think you can Surf on it... I might connect a pc to my TV for more flexibility (one of these days) |
