OFFLINE | When most people prepare for a hurricane, tornado, snow storm, unemployment or other emergency they often will stock up on food, water and snakes for them and their family - but the forget to prepare for the pets. Her is my suggestion. Look at how often you buy pet food - wet or dry - then factor that out to at least 6 months. Keep it in a dry, dark and preferably cool location - just like you would your family's food. Also mark the purchase date on the bags or cans to help you to use the oldest first. A rotation system just like you would do with your own food storage.
I keep a couple of extra bags of dog food stored - still in the bag - in a garbage can to prevent mice or other rodents from tearing into the bags.
Have you ever thought of doing this? If so how do you handle it? |
