John 10:28-29 KJV
(28)  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
(29)  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

These are verses that those who teach OSAS (Once Saved Always Saved) use to teach this doctrine. Does the Bible teach we have eternal security once we give our life to Christ? If not what are the dangers of the doctrine?

I think there are two trains of thought on OSAS (there might be more) with in the group its self. One group believes you can never "ever" be lost no matter what. The other says they will never "chose" to be lost. The danger of the first group is they think they can go on sinning the same sin and be saved. The danger of the second group is they think they are sinless and are in danger of not growing past being babes 2Ti_3:7  Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

I would be interested in hearing where my understanding of them is wrong by someone that believes this OSAS short of arguing of course.

Matt 5:22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. KJV

Matt 5:29 And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish,  and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.
30 And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.  KJV

Mark 3:29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: KJV

KJV

Rev 22:14-15
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.  KJV

Rev 22:19
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.  KJV

Those scriptures say, no one can pluck them out of my hand, once you accept Christ, no one even satan can take you away, it don't say you can't turn and go away from Him. we have free choice, but we also have a condition, we must obey the law

The word of God is awesome.... but you have to treat it with respect.   Read the Bible in a year?  Do you really get anything out of that?  I don't know, the Bible says to search as for hidden treasure, So take your time.....look for clues, search the meanings of the words themselves, break down the verse, know what the subject is and the verb...etc...pay attention to the and's and but's the little words are as important as the big ones. And most of all pray, pray pray. Study with the right attitude, to learn and humble yourself, to God. He will give you understanding and wisdom and discernment.
