have one of these beauties roaming around my yard.



also known as a legless lizard, this is a perfect illustration of how evolution can change one animal to another over time.



if you look closely, you can see the lizard-like pattern on the scale just behind his head. they're scales are much smaller and smoother than most snakes'.



as you can sort of tell in this pic, they're long tear drop shape makes them easy to spot. they are much fatter toward their heads (where their actual bodies are) before tapering back to the tail, which they can actually drop like a regular lizard. i chopped the tail off of mine with the lawnmower once, and it's grown back, and is now every bit of 3 feet long.



i've even seen one beautifully colored like this. like lizards, they have eyelids, external ear openings, and they can't unhinge their jaws.

I would say its a beautiful photo but I'm terrified of snakes and dont want to look very long.  Lol!

Evolution certainly exists...to a degree.
