I was going over some statistics the other day and found that churches in the christian faith are comprised of 70% Female and 30% male. There are several articles that state men hate going to church because they feel it is "Woman's ground". That when they walk into a Church there is are too many flowers and pretty pictures and sweet sweet smells'n'stuff that is not conducive with a mans comfort level. Sermons long and boring, are leaving men disconnected uninterested and lazy in their faith, not wanting to actually have to do anything about spreading the gospel. A lot of non christian people are seeing this as well, and wondering why Christian men are not taking charge of their responsibility of being the spiritual leader in the home. Instead women have become the spiritual leaders, and are generally more serious about their faith. What's the deal? What say you?

I don't go to church anymore, but it didn't exactly appeal to my interests when I did. There's one thing wrong with your statistics. The fact that you did not include an age range. The church I had gone to was mostly men. We had a male Pastor, and everybody in the chorus was male. Than, of course, you had the church staff which had consisted both of men and women.

Ok well said Nick thanks for keeping me real. Lets say that there are more than one type of church out there, and that there are churches of varying size that don't have old guy-itus which is usually the church that guys like you and me went to and got burned out on. I hated those years... And I am not talking about Mormons and JW's either. I hate to narrow down the christian society, but hey we are guys and we need specifics. So lets knock it down to the average christian church that isn't Mormon, Jehovah Witness, or Lutheran cause lets face it. Those groups are about as exciting as an "Ink Blot Test". Now we will knock down the age range as per request, which is actually right on the money, your right I should have specified that!
Since it is pretty obvious that people who have been in a certain faith for a long time, are usually worn out and not too excited to do anything about their faith. We will concentrate on people who actually care about life and live it out loud, so lets look at the group saaayyyy. 15 to 35 years of age. You know, the kids that cruise around with T-shirts that say "Jesus is my home boy", and bumper stickers that say "My Retirement plan is out of this world". I found the same statistics on NationMaster.com  it's pretty crazy looking at that list and finding where everyone is at. I never thought that Russia would win with a 2% attendance record... crazy.  Here is a fun Christianity statistics web site you guys will actually get a kick out of, whychurch.org.uk it bashes on the church of england. ReligiousTollerance.org, has a lot of statistics that outline what is going on, same as WhyChurch.org.uk

Now that the numbers are taken care of, why do you guys suppose that more women than men want to go to church? Why wouldn't you want to go to church?

Speaking out of general existence of this specific clique of people, kids nowadays are more concerned about who's **** who, who's wearing name-brand shoes and who has the latest iPhone. During this time, these people are less likely to attend church simply because they're a self-proclaimed atheist. Not wanting to attend church because they've got this emotional mindset that there's no "higher power", or that God has never actually done anything for them. They try so hard to be different for the sake of being different. This usually lasts throughout the entire school process, usually ending when they finally realize that there's an alternative lifestyle. Usually mid to late twenties.

Personally, I think it's a masculinity factor as you've stated in your original post. Most men who've grown up being stereotyped by their fathers that church is for the weak and fainthearted, and should not be attended by a male figure. There's more than enough credible factors behind the reasoning of men not attending church as much as women do.

When I was attending church, I was never interested. There was absolutely nothing that I could relate to. But for me, it also depended on the Pastor. The church I had went to had a Pastor that was old, wise and intelligent. Each word was spoken out of life's experiences, with some added literature from the Bible. He always had a related story to each individual excerpt that he had read. At that time, I never minded attending church. After his passing, I never went back.

Again, there's more than enough credible factors pertaining to why men don't attend church as much as women do.
