Can someone PLEASE give me a straight answer about Mode Selectors? I can't find a proper answer. Do they hurt the stats of digimon or not?

My Hawkmon is 5/5 and ever since I used the mode selectors, her stats seem to have changed noticeably, but I'm not sure if it was the mode selector or I'm just going crazy.

EDIT:
Ok, I asked in game and got overwhelming responses of that it doesn't lower stats, however someone on the free board said they do, so I'm still slightly confused.
