Google Translate says that deemeul 뜀을 is "Leap."  Anyone familiar with the etymology of this word?
Is there a relation to or conjugation from ttwida 뛰다 (jump)?

뜀을 is derived from 뛰다: verb stem 뛰 + nominalizer ㅁ + accusative particle 을.
The full expression would be 뜀을 뛰다 = lit. "to jump a jump".
The accusative particle can be dropped, e.g. 뜀뛰기 = jumping; hopping around.

Anthony, this is not a Sino-Korean word, therefore it can only be written in Hangul.

Thank you, sir.  I appreciate your help and expertise.
Would you mind sharing where you received your formal education in the Korean language?

Hi Anthony,
I gained a MA in "Philologia Coreana" from Charles University's Faculty of Philosophy in Prague. I also studied Korean and Korean Studies at Yonsei Uni and Kyunghee Uni in Seoul before taking up MBA at Ajou Uni in Suwon. Back in Prague I also wrote a thesis on History of MA in Korea.

Having said that, I consider myself more or less retired from theoretical MA research as I focus on other areas and things in life.

Anthony,
Thank you for your interest, however unfortunately, I do not have an English copy of my work.
It basically covered all main historical periods and the main focus was on organising historical sources and debunking myths.

Hi Ondrej, do you have a copy in Korean? I'd be very interested to read. What's the title of the thesis?
Many thanks, Soo
