Moreso with roosters!

I had a feather pillow once and I hated it. I kept waking up with tiny cuts all over my face

It's OK.

You're not the first to check it out.

Bwahahaha! I do not have a feather pillow, but do have a feather mattress . . . there are no live chickens or roosters in there though.

That's pretty cool.

When I grew up, that's all we had ... feather pillow's, too.  And my grandmother made them all.

Pretty common on farms at that time.

And if you were really upscale, yours was made from goose down.

How many chickens (or gooses) does it take to make a feather bed?

Actually, mine is goose down (as is my comforter), but I think it's not the same as what your grandmother had. Mine goes on top of the actual mattress so it's an added - very thick and comfy layer - is that what original goose down mattresses were like?

I don't know but it's lots.  But then, when you live on a farm, you eat lots of chickens.

If they make them right (sounds like yours wasn't), they only use the down that comes from the breast area.

Ours weren't a layer.  They were like enormous pillows ... 100% down.  And you needed to fluff them daily.

That's mine. It's like a big pillow that goes on top of the mattress and if you (okay me because YOU are not here) do not fluff it up pretty regularly, it's annoying and uncomfortable and unattractive . . .

Chicken is one of those meats I NEVER get tired of, especially if it's BBQ'd. But the chickens I ate when I was a kid were much different than the chickens I see, for example, like what they showed in that Food.Inc movie. I think they said traditional chickens took 3 months to grow and now they've engineered them to grow, and grow bigger, in just 40 some days? Who's paying off the FDA?

Anywho, I'm kinda wondering if my feather pillow was made from Pigeon Feathers now :/ It was full of the feathers with the sharp pointed roots (roots?) on them.
