OFFLINE
When it comes to cookware there is many thoughts about this. Some like the  non-stick pots and pans. Some prefer copper bottom steel, others aluminum. But my personal preference is cast iron.

Some of the benefits to cast iron are:

1) if you season them correctly and oil them after each cleaning then they are actually a better non-stick pot or pan than anything else you can buy out there.

2) Even if used over a small heating source they have a more even heat than any copper bottom steel pot or pan.

3) if you do have to scour a pan or pot it will not scratch, gouge or flake like many aluminum pots and pans do.

4) You can go from stove top directly into the oven since most are all cast iron while most other pots/pans have a composite stay cool handle that can't take the oven temperatures.

5) Finally, if you are without power cast iron works great over a camp stove, open fire cooking pit or even on your bbq.
