When it comes to food storage most concentrate on the basics, but I have found something that is just as important. Comfort foods.

You can eat Mac and Cheese day in and day out, but it would get very boring. But if you had fudge for dessert then it is more palatable. Or you are sitting there watching a movie with your significant other and you have the munchies, you really don't want to open a big bag of granola or dig out your popper for popcorn, then have some crackers and a can of smoked oysters.

I keep on hand many comfort food for my family and I just in case we need a change or something to take the edge off. The comfort food for us contains things like, Smoke oysters, Smoked clams, Kippers, Smoked kippers, plain & flavored snack crackers, popcorn, cocoa powder (for making fudge, cakes, brownies) and several other things.

What you keep as a comfort food for you and your family is all up to you. If you don't think you would ever need a comfort food then ponder thins, what if someone wants to trade you milk for something, what would you trade? Part of your food that you need to survive? Or something that is a comfort food to you, something that may be rare if transportation becomes expensive due to fuel cost?

What would you keep as comfort food or to trade?
