| How feasible is it to combine a credit card with high balance and 13% interest to a lower one that has a balance of a smaller amount with ZERO percent for 16 months. Then the ZERO percent will go to 9.24. |

| I have transferred some of my higher rate cards to my 0% cards. I did this in hopes of paying down the principal and not mostly paying high interest. I am 41 & disabled. I live on a small social security income. I have $7500 in credit card debt. I thought consolidating was the answer- WRONG!
These companies make you go into default in order to negotiate with your creditors. If you are like me & pay consistently...why would you ruin your good credit report with bad information? It takes 3-4 of you not paying your creditors, while your money goes into an account used to hold your money until they feel it's enough to start negotiations- to get you a lower rate & a lower payoff. Since I learned what it was all about and heard Suze screaming in my head, "Don't do it!", I decided to continue making my regular (auto pay) payments & hopefully be done in 2-3 years on my own. I do not know if this is my best option & would like your advice/suggestions. I thought, if I have 5 cards and pay $50 a month on each, I could consolidate to one payment of $250- this was the offer-
How can I pay down any other way? Is there a better way to consolidate? Should I keep transferring portions of my 3 cards @ 20% to my 2 cards @ 0% ?
I feel buried- |
