A choice engine is going to be our way of forwarding the plot of the game based on the choices you make in game. Let us say you come to a fork in the road and you go left instead of right then the computer would load all of the consequences of you going left that would happen later in the game up to the next choice and then delete the possibilities that could have happened if you went right. For essential plot items this would be a permanent delete but for a side mission the game would keep all the end results of you doing the mission if you dont do the mission and want to come back to it later. The choice engine will also function to move the plot along if you choose not to participate in the storyline. It will make all the essential plotline choices itself, probably at random, and forward the story along even if you dont participate and you can watch the story unfold around you. Of course if you choose to enter the story at any point the decision engine would stop its "autopilot" after the last choice its' made and then allow you to manually forward the story with your own decisions.

Ok.... I may need to take a look at this thing and have someone explaine this to me in more detail. I mean, does it have set factors it use as criteria for altering events or do we have to program those into the engine?

So, I guess what I am asking, is, if I write Action A down as being consequential to future events, could the computer engine not see it that way and ultimately ignore all the other options I created from Action A?

And what are the limitations of this thing, I mean, could we not just put in all possible factors that would affect the player in the game and then just have the computer connect all the dots, and then we just fill in the rest with dialogue and video clips?
