Yay first post~~~

Anyways, I have read the entire first two chapters of the  American Government: Power and Purpose book, and I'm doing pretty well on the questions.  I am having a problem with question one on the first sheet, however.
It reads:
In the complex system of American politics, who are the influential decision makers and what forms of political participation are most likely to be effective?

Any help with this?  On the preview page of the first chapter, it mentions these two ideas, but does not actually answer them.  I remember reading them somewhere in the text, but I've got no idea where (over 30 pages of text...).  Does anyone know where I might be able to find it?  Once again, like the forum rules state,  please do not just give away *free answers.*  There is a difference between helping, and hurting.  Giving away answers does no one any good, and may get you in trouble.  Thanks! ^__^

Yeah, when I first looked at the Principles of Politics website work, I was completely overwhelmed!
I used my usual technique for this kind of stuff - I basically read through every bullet point very slowly and carefully, and did not move on the the next point until I understood the one before it.  By going slowly and reading for understanding, I'm actually having a pretty easy time!  I'm working on it right now, so I'll keep everyone posted as to how my progress goes.  Also, when answering the questions, I'm finding it easier to consider each question as two separate ones (for the first part of Ch. 1) - one about how the situation is being fixed due to the proposal, and one about what the problem  before the proposal was.  Good luck!
