A Weatherford native and 2012 graduate of Crosstimbers Academy has been reported missing. Chaney Ray Hawthorne, 21, was reported missing on Aug. 24. He was last seen in Fort Worth, according to the Benbrook Police Department, the agency in charge of the search. On Sept 2. Hawthorne’s truck – a 2003 Ford pickup truck with an extended cab – was found near Texarkana, in Bowie County. Hawthorne has still not been found, said his mother, Tommy Lanell Clifton. “His friends have searched and nothing so far,” she said. “Detectives have no new leads that we know of... He hasn’t been seen.”
The Benbrook Police Department reported that a “person of interest” was taken into custody after the truck was found, but there are currently no new leads on Hawthorne’s whereabouts.
FORT WORTH -- Skeletal remains found Thursday in southwest Fort Worth were identified Monday through dental records as a missing Benbrook man, Fort Worth police confirm. The cause and manner of death are not yet known, but Sullivan said Benbrook police are investigating the case as a homicide.
