My kids had an absolute blast painting heart boxes at the North Pole Ceramic shop in Clarkston.  It was very inexpensive.  They do birthday parties as well.  We had actually checked into doing a LC Valley Mom's event there at one point.  The lady whose name is Donna I believe is very nice and was great with my kids.
