In common law, the Latin term "res ipsa loquitur" is used a lot when referring to negligence. Roughly-translated, it means "the thing speaks for itself".
President Obama's 2012 budget will be roughly $3,800,000 million ($3.8 trillion).
The anticipated 2012 budget deficit will be $1,500,000 million ($1.5 trillion). This means we are borrowing that amount from our children to fund all of the government's' Utopian spending programs.
Finally, the president has proposed "tough budget cuts" that total $775 million. No, that's not a joke.
Let's illustrate the magnitude of Obama's cuts.
Obama's cuts aren't even visible in this chart. So let's zoom in. Still can't see them?
Blowing it up about ten times allows us to see a tiny little green sliver: those are the cuts.

OFFLINE | Phew... good thing the cuts are in place. How about we cut out that high speed rail.. and the tax money that is being spent on research that isnt going to change the world.. Like one such project I heard about on the news this morning.. They are spending 1. some odd billions to fund a research project that is researching the affects of drinking and drugs on american teens.. Really??? because that has never been done?? and are American teens physically any different than teens in any other country??? This type of research cant possibly be urgent enough that it has to happen right now.. when we are in an economic crisis!!! |

Why don't we just cut them loose, too? They're a waste of money. And besides, they hate us anyway. |

I would SOOO much rather that money be spent on Alzheimer's Disease, or curing AIDS, or even just inventing a better pencil sharpener (sarcasm). It's rather obvious what the effects of substance abuse is; psychologists and various other therapists have for years already conducted these studies and produced significant results--- the work on this is already done. |

We spent $2.6 million from the "Stimulus" to teach prostitutes in China how to drink responsibly.
Other great "Stimulus" investments we've making in the name of science:
- Why do gay Argentinean men engage in risky sex when drinking? $400,000
- Why Men Don't Like Condoms $221,355
- Does Alcohol influence the Sexual Behavior of Young Girls? $219,000

OFFLINE | Until Feb 14th, we do not know how many cuts President Obama has suggested. The $775 million figure is from an op-ed in the New York Times about how he is suggesting cuts in programs that he likes and supports. It gave three program examples...and those three totaled the $775 miilion.
The op-ed also said, "These three examples alone, of course, represent only a small fraction of the scores of cuts the president had to choose, but they reflect the tough calls he had to make. And as he made them, his administration tried to make sure that there was no undue burden on any one program or area." |
................ Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming... "WOO HOO what a ride!"

OFFLINE | I got this in an email.. just sharing:
WHY I'M DEPRESSED…;
Over five thousand years ago, Moses said to the children of Israel , "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses and camels, and I will lead you to the Promised Land."
Nearly 75 years ago, (when Welfare was introduced) Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, and light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land."
Today, Congress has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels and mortgaged the Promised Land!
I was so depressed last night thinking about Health Care Plans, the economy, the wars, lost jobs, savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc . .. . I called a Suicide Hotline.
I had to press 1 for English.
I was connected to a call center in Pakistan . I told them I was suicidal.
They got excited and asked if I could drive a truck......

OFFLINE | The way I see it, the only way to get the cuts that are truly needed is for the other Countries to call in the bonds they have purchased forcing the Government to default. Basically a bankruptcy of the Federal Government. Forcing cuts - hopefully by weeding out the waste and fraud first - in all Federal programs including Military, Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Aid to other Nations, Payments to the UN, Welfare, Amtrak, the list goes on and on and on. It would also affect the pay of Federal Workers including the Congress - hopefully those who are in there only for the money will run like the rats from a sinking ship because of having to take a pay cut.
It is drastic, it will hurt some people - elderly and disabled - it may even cause riots and street fights among those who are perfectly able to take care of themselves but choose to live off the Government handouts. The Civil Service Unions would get upset - if not actually riot - because they would be forced to go back and renegotiate contracts - being forced to take cuts in pay and benefits due to the Government not having any money.
But the benefit I see possibly coming out of this - others may disagree, considering it a hardship instead - is that families would have to draw together to help take care of elderly and disabled members of their family - reconnecting the family. People would reconnect and start working with their neighbors in security of their neighborhoods and cities - rekindling a pride in ones neighborhood and city. Ok, I know someone will say this last paragraph is a "pie in the sky pipe dream" or "rose colored glasses" in use but I have to believe that there is something of the drive, passion and hope that lead the Founders to try to make this Nation a better place to live and raise their children, left in all of us. |

There is more truth to that than one wants to believe. |

 A-hahahaha! Good one Kath!
It wouldn't be funny if there weren't a lot of truth to it. |
