I can still hear the words echoing in my mind: ‘Pay attention to the context!’ This was something that my biblical Hebrew professor often stressed to his students while I attended college. For when it comes to understanding the Bible, identifying the context is essential. After all, without context you really can’t grasp the underlying point of what you are reading, which means you will likely miss out on a lot of important details that you should know to read the Bible in a more meaningful way. And since much of what is written in the Bible is historical, one of the best ways to make it easier to grasp the context of what is written in it is to read the Bible chronologically.
