OFFLINE
**** Flicks Online Internship

Description

**** Flicks is a Web site devoted to reviewing film and television through a feminist lens.  We look closely at how popular films, television, music videos, movie posters, and other forms of media contribute to misogyny, violence against women, and unattainable beauty ideals. More than anything, we believe the blind and uncritical consumption of media portrayals of women contributes to furthering women’s inequality in all areas of life.  Our tagline—“The radical notion that women like good movies”—speaks for itself: even in the 21st century, women taking the lead in visual media and criticism is still a radical position.
**** Flicks seeks Writing & Linguistics and/or Women’s Studies majors and/or minors to fill one to two internships. The internship will be conducted solely over the Internet.

Responsibilities of this internship may include, but will not be limited to:

1. Writing a monthly film review;
2. Compiling a weekly list of articles from around the Web that focus on women and media;
3. Expanding **** Flicks’ social media presence;
4. Completing various semester-long projects (more details will be available to applicants);
5. Assisting in acquiring guest writers and blog content;
6. Pitching ideas for blog posts;
7. Communicating regularly with site editors via e-mail;
8. Self-evaluating progress through tracking and reporting of work hours

Qualifications of successful candidates may include, but will not be limited to:

1. Outstanding writing skills;
2. Excellent administrative, organizational, and communication skills;
3. Background or strong interest in feminism, gender, and media;
