We recently had a fire in one of the stores in our little town. Nobody was hurt but the young family who lived in the apartment above the store lost absolutely everything. Currie's Music, a local used musical instrument and cool stuff store organized a benefit concert to help out. It was held at the Gravenhurst Opera House, a really nice venue with incredible acoustic qualities and included many local bands and artists. I was one of them. The whole show was organized in about 3 days. 2 stages, the big, beautiful upstairs room and a smaller downstairs room with musicians playing on each, non stop for 4 hours. No admission fee but donations were accepted at the door. Overt 400 people attended and more than $5000 was raised. That's really good for a this little town.

For me personally, this once again opened my eyes to the incredible power of music. I'm so happy to have and share this thing. Music is a powerful force and I'm happy to say that it's working for the good guys.

That's a great story, Steve. You must have been very pleased to be able to use your musical ability for such a worthy event.

Thanks for sharing it here. =;-)

It says something how quickly people were able to organise the show!

It's heartening to see the good nature of people also. We see so much of conflict these days - from wars and political in-fighting to internet trolling, it's possible to forget that most people are good people sometimes. And as you say Steve, music has the power to focus that goodness. Good for you, and huzzah for music.

Well done Steve! I think you're right about the power of music. Sometimes it's about making someone else's life better.
