 OFFLINE | Hi there again.
Just awhile ago I notice a "Reply" on one of the announcement threads. Checking it I saw that the reply did not come from a moderator but a regular customer per se.
This can be a bit of a threat regarding spam once more and more people realize that they can actually reply to threads made in the announcements/events/etc section. A moderator's post to update the thread might end up being buried by the stream of replies or the whole thread itself being hi-jacked. It is a good practice to lock announcements/events/stuff boards so that only Moderators can post in it. Including replies. I'm unaware of how much option fBulletin app gives but I believe you can at least lock threads and unlock them to post an update. This should at least address the possible threat of flooding in those important threads.
Now if the above statement were to be followed, events discussion might clutter the threads in-between the "General Discussion" board and "Digimon Discussion". To prevent this, create another board entitled as "Events Discussion Board" where only Moderators can start topics. This way if one were to look for discussions regarding an event, they can find it on one thread. Also this will allow them to state their mind in an optimal manner as opposed to letting event discussions pop out in different boards. Moderators can concentrate on one thread instead of having to sniff out multiple threads spread over multiple boards.
I'll try to poke around this forum more and look for possible holes in the forum set-up.

 OFFLINE | Hi Cid,
Unfortunately, FBulletin doesn't have features on disabling users from replying to topics/certain categories. Hence we are allowing the comments for now, as long as they're not spam.
I have already suggested to the FBulletin developers to have this feature, but it might take some time, as I also suggested for them to add a close/move topic feature.
Since this is only a temporary forum, it might not be that much of a problem We'll delete posts in the announcement section when deemed necessary.
Thanks for your feedback. |
