Ban feature is ready
Only forum administrators can ban users for now (mods cannot).
Please report bugs.
In order to ban a user, go to his/hir profile and click "ban this user" link.
You can use the same page to remove ban.

Regards,

Great work Alan!  Thank you!

I doubt we'll use it much.  In 5 years on MySpace and over 41,000 group members, we might've only banned 30-40 times.  And most of them were spammers or trolls.

So I see the profile link ... but no way to test it without actually banning someone ?!  (Unless there's a way to restore them?)

Regards!

Scott

You can easily test it.
You can ban a friend and remove ban later.

When a user is banned, are they banned from the one sub-forum, the entire main forum module (ie the Facebook English Forum) Or are they banned from from the entire App, entering all of the main forums, FB English and Love or Hate and etc etc?

If a user is banned from one forum (ie Facebook English Forum) it means s/he is banned from only that forum (all categories though) not from all forums (ie WC, Love or Hate etc).

Cool, thanks for the clarification.

Alan, is it possible to have a "Saved Topics" tab that could contain threads we like and want to follow, but haven't posted in? I noticed the little "Like" buttons have been gone, but could we have a way to save certain threads? I know you hear this a lot, but like the feature at MySpace. The "My Topics" page there included not only topics we started, but any topic we posted in. That was a nice feature if you post in several sub forums, or if you went away for a bit, or the forum is fast paced and threads get buried by new posts by the time you can come back and check them.

I tested the ban feature on a friend to see if it works. After I banned him, how come he can still go to our forum and see everything in our forum? Is the ban feature working properly???

Is this still true??

I am wanting to make a forum for a professional organization I belong to.  But we only want the professionals that actually belong to our organization to be able to register and see and comment.  Is there a way to better control the member list or is it just a free for all??
