The Averitt Center for the Arts seeks Writing & Linguistics majors and/or minors to fill two to three internships. These Public Relations Interns will be responsible for assisting with a variety of promotional materials related to performances, gallery exhibits, workshops, and community events. Responsibilities of this intern may include, but will not be limited to, the following:
1. Composing, updating, editing, and/or proofreading press releases;
2. Writing (and potentially recording) radio ads;
3. Drafting feature stories;
4. Updating Website, as needed;
5. Maintaining the Averitt Center’s Facebook page;
6. Other writing-related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be an energetic, highly motivated individual with exceptional writing skills and a keen awareness of audience. Applicant should be a quick study who is deadline-driven and detail-oriented, with an eye for proofreading and editing. This individual will have strong organizational skills and must be able to work well independently and as part of a group.
