OFFLINE | The Portland City Council is expected to approve a new policy Wednesday for city employees to create a fragrance-free workplace.
All employees would be asked to refrain from wearing perfume, cologne and after shave and to avoid strongly scented deodorants or powders.
The Oregonian reports it wouldn't be an outright ban, but fragrant employees could face disciplinary action.
The idea is to protect workers with asthma or health issues triggered by fragrances.
Strong scents like perfumes and colognes can trigger asthma attacks, and “asthma attacks can be deadly,” says Mike Tringale, vice president of the Asthma and Allergy foundation of America.
“There are a lot of laws now that prohibit people from smoking in outdoor spaces, because of second hand smoke. This (perfume) would be considered a second hand allergen or irritant exposure as well.”

OFFLINE | Personally I think body odor and gaseous ass emissions are way more offensive and should be outlawed immediately! |

OFFLINE | I think some times body fragrances are a bit overdone, and in those extreme cases I try to avoid getting too close - just as I would with someone with really bad breath or a stinky booty. Every now and then several people express a complaint to management singling someone out for really bad B.O. And every time management is afraid to address it directly, and eventually, those making the complaints get turned into the bad guy. I dunno, I think this is just one of those trifling human things. |

If they pass a law against smells that emanate from people, I suppose that'll result in the local politicians having to wear muzzles. |
