OFFLINE | ....according to this totally unbiased survey:
North Korea, the world's second happiest nation...
… according to North Korea
China is the world's happiest nation, followed by North Korea, according to recently released North Korean government research.
The blissful top five is rounded out by Cuba, Venezuela and Iran, reports the International Business Times, which picked up the news from Chinese-language outlet Chaoxian.
How merry is the U.S.? It placed more or less dead last at 203rd.
If you're cynical about the scientific rigor of this survey, well, you would be.
After all, the so-called "'freedom of thought' touted by the imperialists is a hypocritical slogan aimed to suppress the progressive idea in capitalist societies … to spread bourgeois reactionary ideas and the ideological and cultural poisoning of other countries."
So proclaims the North Korean central news bureau. (Which appears to pay its writers extra for run-on sentences.)
But don't go thinking it's all dandelions and puppy's breath in North Korea.
"If the enemies dare to invade (North Korea)," the bureau wrote in May, "they will be doomed to a miserable fate"

See, it has to be unbiased, they didn't put themselves in first place.... |

Depends on what time of the year you do your surveys, during the summer they're the happiest people on earth because they're surrounded by 6-foot blondes with a healthy attitude to nudity, and then in the winter during the 3 months of absolute darkness they all top themselves..... :-p |

I thought that was Japan that lead in suicide. Last I heard Denmark had the most content people. Many of those small European countries are socialist which is fine because it's easy for a total government to run a nation that's smaller than Maine. I think the bigger and more complex a nation is, the smaller the government needs to be. |
