| This is a place for any Medford families out there who have roots in Caribbean islands (possibly linked with Chandler, Dowden, Gill, Greaves, Searles, Whitehead, and others).
Example:

| The redoubtable Mrs. Molly MEDFORD:
Many educators who have passed on in the annuls of Grenadan history. They often dedicated their entire lives to preparing the young minds of our youth to accept the challenges of academia and hopefully prepare them for the wider world.
These educators have often been the corner stone of our communities - serving as mentors, Fathers, Mothers, Brothers and Sisters, installing great values in their students and provided them with the necessary tools to go on in life to become very successful, obtaining professions such as Doctors, Lawyers, Scientists, Chemists, Educators, Nurses and Entrepreneurs and so on, the list is endless without limitation to professions.
To that end in 2008 an Annual Educators Scholarship Fund (formally the Head Master's Scholarship) was developed to honour educators particularly from St. Johns Parish (to provide financial assistance as outlined in the stated purpose).
Amongst the 26 names associated with the award is one Mrs. Molly MEDFORD.
It would be a lovely epitaph to include her MEDFORD family story here amongst the other names we share. Can you tell her story, do you have her picture? |

| Margaret Jane MEDFORD
Margaret was christened in St Andrew Barbados in either 1841 or 1848. She married John Edward Christopher GREAVES (b.?1840) on 19 Dec 1867 in St Andrew Barbados. They had at least 5 children - Laura (c.1868), Rebecca Christian (c.1870), James Alleyne (c.1872), Ella Edith (c.1875) and Mary Brandford (c.1883).
If anyone has seen the Marriage Record for Margaret Jane and found her daddy and has discovered parents of her and her husband, then let the group know.
Or if your family are, in fact related to this line then let us know! |

| A little note on the earliest Medford to the Caribbean:
By 1680 one Mathew MEDFORD (who owns 10 acres) lived in St. Philip, Barbados.
Mathew Medford married (by banns) Eliza Curtys in 1716 and his brother
Thomas Medford married Eliza Cox (2 years later), both in St. Philip, Barbados.
Much later, 1914-1925, James F Medford still owned 'Cheltenham' plantation (26 acres) in St Andrew, Barbados.
