OFFLINE | For the sake of transparency, and for the sake of letting you guys know that I am human, too, I've decided to write my ramblings about being a community manager for MMORPGs.
It's not !$@%#!%@! easy.
Coming to the office and seeing a lot of mean and harsh feedback first thing in the morning isn't really a good way to start the day. Sometimes, I wish everyone would try to look at both sides first before hitting the F button for the F word and complaining immediately. On certain days, I'd reach my limit and try to calm myself down, too (good thing there's hot chocolate in the office! I don't know what else would help me relieve the stress lol). But most of the time, I try my best in approaching everyone at the same level, regardless of what they tell me, no matter how harsh or how nice they seem to be. I do my best in forwarding players' concerns immediately, and sometimes, I'd even argue with colleagues about the changes made in the game. Even though it doesn't guarantee that whatever I say on behalf of the community will immediately be implemented, at least I know I tried my best to mention the community's feedback.
And then whenever I go back to reading all the feedback, it's still the same. Complaints here and there, being called an idiot, being cursed at and all. Hardly receiving any gratitude. But life goes on. You can't please everyone. People will always find something to complain about. And the only way to look at it is to learn from it.
Though people tend to QQ a lot (LOL) in the community, I love interacting with everyone else. This is the reason why I even drop by to say hi and check on everyone even when I'm off-duty. Though majority of the community may have been harsh, there are still lots of those who are actually understanding and have been very patient enough to support us amidst our failures (sorry about that ). I'm happy to see different kinds of people all in one community, and I'm more than happy to be part of this community.
But still, it's not !$U&*!$! easy. XD

OFFLINE | I'm saving this. You have earned my respect today and perhaps the respect of many players by showing you have feelings too and that people need to learn that even Joymax is comprised of humans and have their limits as well. |

OFFLINE | I can fully understand where you are coming from. Reading 95% of these posts make me want to tho I only come here when I am bored or when the server is down. But you're one of the best mods that I have seen and I hope you don't let those people get to you. Thank you for all your hard work and for always being respectful with everyone even if some don't deserve it.
Here you earned this

 OFFLINE | QQers be QQin'.
It's disheartening to read people complain without even trying to understand the situation, or putting themselves in the shoes of others. I'm a normal player, too, but I don't nerd rage like mad just because this and this did not come out today. I did nerd rage about the entire three hour limit thing, and had a little argument with some coworkers so they could at least get it in their heads that it needs to be changed. But that's besides the point. What I mean to say is, I want a cup of hot chocolate, because honestly, I don't get why people demand so much in so little time.
Compare a recently launched game to a game that has been existing for years? Do you even understand how it is to operate a game? Or even program it? Just because they are the same game in two different languages doesn't mean you just translate them all and voila, we're done! No. Life's not that easy, honey. Why do things come first in the Cash Shop and then come as drops later? Why do we even work if we're not getting any profit and just spend so much on operating the game? Grow up. Business is business. Be thankful for the fact that they even release them as drops later on. For those who have already spent in the game and you have something to complain about, such as the price you pay for isn't worth the service you get, then you have a valid reason to complain, and I'm more than willing to hear you out.
That being said, I salute the team last night. They've been in the office for almost 24 hours just to make sure that everything's working smoothly during and after the updates. Crap happens, and there's nothing we can do but try and solve it as soon as possible. Everyone's working hard here. And the only thing we get is gratitude amongst ourselves.
Then again, I guess that's what matters most. That's what's keeping us all intact in our work.
So all you QQers be QQin'. We be workin'.
P.S. Don't rant on me about vitamin prices and drop limits -- I understand your point, and I've been telling the team since day one. |
