- The man who police initially thought was killed in a single-car wreck early Wednesday, appears to have died from a gunshot wound, according to police.
- Ryan Trent, 29, was found dead after his white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck struck a tree on Ellington Parkway near Briley Parkway in Madison, said Metro Police Capt. Gregory Blair.
- Staff at the Nashville Medical Examiner’s Office discovered the gunshot during a detailed examination of Trent’s body late Wednesday morning, according to police in a news release.
- A passerby noticed the crashed pickup truck in the trees at 2:44 a.m. and telephoned 911, police said. Trent, of Neelys Bend Drive, died at the scene.
- East Precinct detectives are working to learn more about Trent, including where he may have been early this morning. They are asking anyone who may have seen the pickup truck run off the roadway or with any other information contact East Precinct Investigations at 615-862-7525 or Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a $10,000 cash reward.
