So the power was out while we were away Mon/Tues and arrived Wednesday to no power and a LOT of dead stuff. INCLUDING the new 5ft CADE. Covered in hair algae, BGA, and thread algae.

So a vote:
1/Clean, remove plants, remove all aglae, run with harcore algacides for 3-4 days then replant like nothing ever happened.
2/fork out and fly Josh back over and rescape completely together (grinning and baring his wrath).

Well that's true, it's a damn shame I have got stock in my tank other wise I would bomb the living hell out of it. Stupid BBA and hair algae!!

I still think you should try and save the scape if it can be saved.

Would love a pic to see how bad it is

Oh no... it looked great when i was there few weeks back.

Probably clean & replant rather than rescape

How about getting something like the Seneye to keep an eye on things. When the temps start to drop you'll know something is off.

A looooooong time ago when I was still young and supple I used some algae killer (can't recall the brand, old) to get rid of some green water and hair algae in a community tank full of discus, tetras, clown loaches and even a few glass shrimp. Amazingly the algae died and the stock survived! So maybe its not all doom and gloom, there's hope for the CADE yet my friend
