Thanks for raising a very important question. Let me explain.

Every share has its own bull cycle. Generally stocks that are very much prospective have a good chance to rise like NBL. It will declare dividend on 7th February, which will effect on 8th. The bullishness shows it may give more than 50% stock dividend.

The stocks which are showing strength can definitely be considered as good stock.

Actually the change of a stock depends basically on demand and supply. Some good stocks have also lost their price after declaration ( Aftab Auto)

It is very important to  observe the price volatility of a stock, the more volatile a stock is, the more  possibility to rise and fall
