Well everyone today we hit the 2 week mark to when we will all begin our travels to SD to see our guys!!!!!!! I cannot believe that we have come this far and have such a short period of time to go!!!!! I can only imagine how our guys are feeling at this very moment knowing that they are so close!!!!!!~ I am a bundle of nerves from the anticipation of seeing Marquis!!!!!!! I got 2 letters today!!!!! They were from a week and half ago or so...........Marquis sounds good and is feeling like "the big man on campus" as there Co. is the SENIOR CO. on Base now!!!!!! He says it is pretty damn awesome watching those "NEW RECRUITS" knowing that they are only a couple weeks away from graduating while those guys still have ALL OF BC to go!!!!!!!!! THATS THE SPIRIT MARQUIS!!!!!!! No other news except some more "bribes" to come baring "In & Out" Burger when we see him on FD!!!!!!!!!!!! Gee, I wonder how many times he has asked for I&O in the last month???!!!!! I wonder what he would do if when we saw him we tole him, "In & Out, we had no idea you wanted In and Out......YOU NEVER SAID A WORD about it in your letters!!!!!!".............oh yes that would be so cruel wouldn't it be????? HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA.........

Ahhh Apryl 2 letters!!!!!!! That FANTASTIC!! Gives me hope that I still might receive my birthday letter I LOVE that they're the Senior Co on base haha I bet that's an ego boost!
I would also LOVE to hear how his face looked if you told him you knew nothing about In and Out hahaha make sure someone has a camera for that one!

Amanda I was actually pretty shocked to have gotten those letters......Like I said they were dated a ways back, but Im not complaining!!!! He told me that he has gotten my letters that he is just so busy and hasn't had time to write.....so maybe there is another one floating around out there for me somewhere!!! LOL......He told his Daddy "Happy Fathers Day" in both of those letters too, so I guess they let them know what "holidays" are coming up in there......thats a good thing I suppose right??? I wonder how awesome our guys feel knowing that they are graduating 4th of July week? Or if they have even put all that together yet!!! I hope you get a letter soon Amanda......Your birthday is in 7 DAYS!!!!!!!! :yahoo"...... Im sure Steven has all sorts of ideas in his head for when he see's you since it will only be 6 days after your birthday!!!!!
Today marks 13 days until travel, 14 days until FD and 15 days until graduation and bringing our boys HOME!!!!!!!!!!! Timmy is leaving for Reno today for Wrestling Camp and will be gone until late Sunday night........Guess this will give me time to CLEAN and get Marquis' room ready for when he comes home......I haven't touched it since he has been gone.....Who knows what he will take with him, what he will leave behind, if anything.......it is so weird walking by his room and not seeing him in there.....Soon!!!!!! I have a dumb question, where on devildogs do you find platoon video?
I have been to that website but I will be darned if I can find anything.
My son shipped to MCRD San Diego on Monday so want to get all these websites bookmarked!

Hi Kristine!!!!!! No question is a dumb question!!!!!!! If you go to devildogs.com the first thing you will see is that is says MCRD San Diego.....right under that it says the battalions........click on whichever Bn. your son is in, then you sill see the Bn. then go down to his Company.......click on his company....then you will see the Co.....then click on his Plt. # and there ya go!!!!!!!! I hope this helps......if you need anything else or you have any other questions PLEASE don't hesitate to ask!!!!!!! We all had to learn it and we have all gone through it!!!!!!! Good luck to you and your son!!!!! Its a long ride...your going to be filled with so many emotions, so hang on and remember ALL that you are feeling and will be feeling is normal and valid!!!!!!!

That is funny that Marquis said that Apryl!  One of the last letters I wrote Zack, I was telling him that he was a like a Junior in high school-- second semester, and pretty soon he would be a Senior!!!    They have come soo far and I am so anxious to see them.

However, I do pray that they will all come out of the Crucible intact. I cannot imagine 40 miles in 56 hours!! Crazy!! And only 3 MREs to boot!!  I don't know how they will do it. I feel like a darn helicopter parent over this!! I am worrying and giving advice, yet I know he doesn't need it. He knows more than I do!!  

So do you know how far the nearest In-n-Out is? I haven't looked it up. I am soo happy that you finally got news from him! It has slowed down a lot, but that is okay. They are busy!!  I have been telling Zack to quite worrying about writing and just worry about studying- PRAC was today. I know they all did well!

Amanda-Happy Pre-Birthday!!  Just in case I don't get on here before then. All this food planning and room cleaning is taking up all my time! Not like Zack will notice that his room is clean! LOL

My understanding is that the video for Hotel Platoon 2166 will be uploaded tomorrow, Friday June 24th.  My Grandson is a recruit, and will be graduating on July 8th, 2011.  

Before you ask, yes, I will be there to see him graduate, and become another Marine.

Kristine, you are so welcome but no need to thank me!!!!!!! As I said above....WE HAVE ALL BEEN right where you are right now!!!!!!!! It is a very hard adjustment and filling yourself with as much knowledge helps a ton but in no way eases the pain!!!!! There is a wealth of info out there and of course there are those of us that have gone through this and are at different stages than you are right now......Feel free to ask any questions that you might have!!!!!! Or just vent........I found that if I wrote my thoughts and feelings on here not only did it release it for me but allowed others to read it and possibly console them in their own way knowing that they weren't alone in how they felt!!!!! Good luck to you and your son......You will be right here we were are soon enough and your pride will multiply leaps and bounds!!!!!
Arden, YES the Platoon video will be posted today around 6 P.M. PST.........Believe me we are all anxiously awaitng this to get a FULL ON LOOK at our boys!!!!!!!! Congratulations to you and your grandson!!!! The pride you must be feeling at this very moment!!!!!!
Lynette, YES there is an In & Out right outside the gate up a little ways........I was told that it shouldn't take that long to get there and get back in between the last pass and when they are released for Liberty......So I am going to attempt to make a mad dash to get Marquis his In & Out as he has so requested for the last 12 letters!!!!! .......And with regards to his comment on being the Sr. Co on base......that is a GREAT analogy that you stated to Zach as that is pretty much what it is like!!!!! .......THEY ARE SENIORS ONCE AGAIN!!!!!!! Bwahahahahahahahaha......Hope you all have a wonderful Friday and an amazing weekend!!!!! Lets hope Plt. 2166 kicks ass on the Rappeling and Fast Rope today!!!!!! Arden- Your grandson wouldnt happent to be Kai Musgrove would it? If so, I have heard LOTS about him over these past months. My boyfriend and him seem to have got quite close!

Hi Hillary,  I don't know what hat you pulled that one out of, but yes, Kai is my grandson.  He is a good kid with a good head on his shoulders.  Your boyfriend must have his head on pretty good too.

Apryl...  YES, I am VERY proud he joined the Marine Corps, following me.  He is now Black Sheep #2.  Our Military heritage has been Air Force, Navy, or Army for over 8 generations.  I am (note, not "was" the first Marine, and he will soon be the second Marine.  Life is GOOD!!!!
