Pushing a dual voice 4ohm 15inch kicker mono off an old school punch 500a2. Can anyone tell me what load is under the amp with this setup? and whats the best way to get power safely (if not this way) without risking damage to the amp. thanks

Whats the power rating on the kicker? how are you wiring the sub to the amp? if your running it off a 2 channel amp you probably wanna bridge the channels. a single dvc sub can only be wired to 8 ohms or 2 ohms so you might not be able to run that sub bridged since the amp can only be wired to 4 ohm bridged. you should look into getting a mono amp for a sub its alot more flexible for wiring purposes.

yeah you can run the coils in series to achieve a 8 ohm load but the amp isnt going to put out much power at 8 ohms. i think you usually divide the power by 2 for every impedance drop factor of 2. so you will see half the power as a 4 ohm load. you could try and run the sub off 1 channel with a 2 ohm load if it can handle it.

im going to guess your gonna get about 250 rms from each channel at 2 ohms and 250-200 rms from bridging with a 8 ohm load so go with whatever you want. the 8 ohm load will be easier on the electric and the amp.
