Hello,
My son Ian is in this platoon.  His twin Ross graduated last September (both pictured here).  It's a tough but very proud process for us parents to have our "babies" grown up and taking on the responsibility of helping to defend this country. The trip to San Diego for Family Day and Graduation is one not to be missed.

Hello, my son is also in this platoon he headed out on March 14th and graduates on the 10th of June. I am still trying to adjust to him not being here but I am also very proud of him as well. I'm a little confused on the whole travel plans thing.Since this is your second time around can you give a new marine mom some advice on where a good place to stay is?

Hi Michelle,
We stayed in Old Town in September at the Holiday Inn.  We actually walked to the base in the morning (about 6 blocks) and took the shuttle home.  Be prepared to do alot of walking on Thursday, family day.

The brochure your son sent with his first letter gives information for SATO travel.  I booked our hotel through them as they did have a lower rate with the option to cancel if needed.  Many times the low rate on the internet does not allow you to cancel.  You can actually book less expensive flights if needed by doing so yourself though.

Another thing you may consider purchasing is a graduation shirt to wear on family day.  If you have not found this site already it has many great links to information as well as shirts to purchase ahead of time.  http://www.recruitparents.com
