I bought a 2003 Dodge SX 2.0L for $400. The previous owner said it had a bad alternator and dead battery. The car would barely start, it would stall when disconnected from another car for a jump start and the gauges were doing all sorts of funky things. When I got the car home first thing was first... I had to charge the battery and read up on the gauges dancing (it was symptom from the dead battery and the gauges being tested). When the battery was charged I started the car for its first time in my possession. It ran and misfired but didn't stall.
During an inspection under the hood I noticed that the fourth cylinders spark plug had some oil around the wire boot so I pulled it off and saw that oil was soaked around the spark plug and the plug tube was raised up higher than the rest. Cylinder two was also a bit higher than one and three.
This is a video of how I fixed the spark plug tubes with Sleeve Retainer Compound from Permatex (kind of like loctite) and a Neon 2.0l SOHC valve cover gasket set for a total of $75.
